There is no universal accreditation for CBT practitioners or trainers in Australia. Most postgraduate courses in psychology have specialist CBT training, and nursing and social work degrees may also provide training in CBT. Contact the relevant departments of the major universities to find out more information.
Victorian based organizations which also offer CBT training may be provided through Cairnmiller (http://www.cairnmillar.org.au/) or the Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (http://www.ccbt.com.au/).
There is also a new CBT training program set in Byron Bay, which is part of the Northern Rivers Department of Rural Health (NRUDRH) which was established to cater to CBT therapists at all levels from beginner to advanced. For beginners, there are Essential skills for CBT; for beginner to intermediate level therapists, evidence-based CBT for Depression and Anxiety; for more advanced practitioners, Advanced CBT and Supervision Skills (see www.cbttraining.com.au). The Australian Psychological Society (APS) have also run introductory and advanced CBT training courses in the past (http://www.psychology.org.au/).
For information on other training opportunities see the AACBT Victoria events calendar in the latest edition of our Baseline Newsletter.
